HRS503 Regulator
Regulators are fitted to wind turbine systems to ensure the energy generating system operates automatically and prevents damage to your batteries which may be caused by over charging. The new HRS regulator incorporates the latest Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technology to regulate the battery voltage therefore preventing overcharge.
Voltage is regulated as the HRS503 tapers charge to the battery by gradually limiting windcharger current. Once the battery becomes fully charged, the wind turbine regulator kicks in and reduces the turbine speed to an idle pace. This protects the battery from overcharging and as fully charged batteries are more likely to occur in high winds, the slow mode of operation is safer and reduces wear and tear of your wind turbine.
If you are interested in adding solar power to your environmentally friendly electricity generating system, you can also attach a solar panel with a maximum rating up to 100W that may be connected in parallel with your wind turbine to help provide extra power. It is important to note that a blocking diode must be fitted to the solar panel to prevent it from drawing current from the wind charger. With a simple 3-wire flying lead connection (power in from turbine; power out to battery; and common ground) the HRS503 regulator is ideally suited for the Rutland 504 windturbine.
